What is authorisation required for?
A detailed plan must be submitted by the treating Vet for approval. However it will be required from the pet owner to get per-approval for other veterinary costs for planned procedures. PawPaw must also be notified should any further consultations or diagnostics be required, for example but not limited to:
- Rehabilitation (post-operative only)
- Treatments
- Specialist referrals
- Further diagnostic workups
- Blood tests
- MRI/CT scans
- Radiology / Radiation / Chemotherapy / Surgeries
- Chronic medication
- Prosthesis
- PawPaw requires a detailed treatment plan from the treating Vet
Chronic treatment plans can be purchased at an additional premium complimentary to this insurance plan.
Pet Accidental Plan
WHAT’S COVERED?
For the purpose of this policy an accident must be a direct consequence of at least one of the following:
- Motor Vehicle Accident
- A burn or electrocution
- A fall from an elevated position
- A near drowning
- The actions of another animal
- A swilled or embedded foreign object requiring surgical or endoscopic removal
- A snake bite
- An allergic reaction to an insect bite other than tick or flea bites
- Biliary (Tick Bite Fever / Bosluiskors) is covered as an accident
- Poisoning
As well as accidents that result in:
- A fractured bone
- Traumatic ligament or tendon injury
- Lacerations, abrasions or wounds
- A gastric torsion (Gastric Dilation)
